Referral of elderly patients with severe renal failure questionnaire survey of physicians | Author(s) | R G Parry, A Crowe, J M Stevens, J C Mason |
Journal title | British Medical Journal, vol 313, no 7055, 24 August 1996 |
Pages | p 466 |
Keywords | Kidney diseases ; Referrals ; Doctors ; Attitudes to the old of general public ; Questionnaires ; Social surveys. |
Annotation | Although there may be under-referral of elderly patients with renal failure to nephrologists, physicians as a whole were liberal in their stated referring or acceptance practice in this particular survey. Although the questionnaire measured only attitudes and not behaviour, the findings were consistent with a rising acceptance rate of elderly patients on to dialysis programmes. |
