Annotation | Carer support groups are widely recognised as being an effective resource for meeting the needs of caregivers for emotional support and information. This article describes the results of a survey conducted by the author to identify the role and style of group support workers and the effectiveness of professional involvement. Social workers facilitated the groups by carrying out a range of practical and developmental tasks. Professional involvement was seen to make a significant contribution to the effectiveness of this type of group. |
