AnnotationA Working Party on Age, Discrimination and Employment Law was established by the Law Society in 1992, to consider options for dealing with age discrimination and the feasibility of introducing legislation in relation to unlawful discrimination on grounds of age. If anti-discrimination legislation were introduced, it could be workable and effective: it could be based on existing sex and race relations legislation. The report is supported by statistics relating to age and employment, and outlines of the law in relation to age discrimination in New Zealand, Canada, Australia, the USA and the European Union.
