Preserved rights to income support results of an Age Concern/Association of Charity Officers Survey | Corporate Author | Age Concern England - ACE; Association of Charity Officers |

Keywords | Welfare rights ; Expenditure [elderly] ; Charges [care homes] ; Social surveys. |
Annotation | This survey highlights the urgent need to identify actual costs of care, taking into account the many expenses which may be necessary to run homes which can offer suitable and acceptable levels of care. Long-term residents in care homes may face eviction because of inadequate benefit levels, as their special rates (preserved rights) to income support - which pre-date implementation of the NHS and Community Care Act 1990 in 1993 - have not kept pace with increasing home fees. |
