Annotation | This book is in three parts. Part One is a critical review of the literature on ageing, death and dying, and dying in residential care. Part Two presents the findings of a qualitative research study based on the experiences of staff who regularly provide care to people in residential homes during the later stages of life. Attitudes to religious beliefs and ageing, and residents' feelings about death and dying are discussed. The final part discusses some of the tensions and dilemmas for practice: accepting death and dying and forming attachments; and the value of talking about death. |
