Annotation | Using direct observation of farewell parties in 4 Israeli organisations, explores the functions which they fulfil for the people retiring and the organisations they are about to leave. These secular rituals mark the disruption of long-standing social and organisational bonds, and provides the person retiring with an essential support mechanism or coping resource, to help weather the role transition and other attendant stresses. |
