Application of a growth curve approach to modeling the progression of Alzheimer's disease | Author(s) | Yaakov Stern, Xinhua Liu, Marilyn Albert, Jason Brandt |
Journal title | The Journals of Gerontology Series A: Biological Sciences and Medical Sciences, vol 51A, no 4, July 1996 |
Pages | pp M179-M184 |
Keywords | Dementia ; Mathematical models ; Statistical distributions. |
Annotation | Changes in measures of clinical severity of Alzheimer's disease over time were modelled, using data from the Modified Mini-Mental State Examination (MMSE) and measures of basic and instrumental ADL, administered semi-annually for up to 5 years to patients with probable AD. Differences in patterns of progression of these measures have implications for predicting disease course in AD and the planning of clinical trials. |
