 — a population-based study
Author(s)Amasa B Ford, Zak Mefrouche, Robert B Friedland, Sara M Debanne
Journal titleJournal of the American Geriatrics Society, vol 44, no 8, August 1996
Pagespp 905-909
KeywordsTobacco smoking ; Cognitive impairment ; Longitudinal surveys ; United States of America.
AnnotationThe study did not confirm the hypothesis that there is an inverse relationship between smoking and cognitive impairment. Four-year mortality over the survey period did not differ significantly between those older smokers and non-smokers, but smokers died at a relatively younger age and were more likely to die of diseases associated with smoking.
