Annotation | New technology has the potential to enhance the quality of life of elderly and disabled people living in their own homes. This article gives examples of research being carried out, with this aim, under the European Commission's Technology Initiative for the Disabled and Elderly (TIDE) programme: community alarm systems; personal assistive devices for disabled people; intelligent and 'smart' systems for domestic appliances; and telecommunications applications. |
