AnnotationProvides an overview of gerontological theories of successful ageing and proposes a process-oriented approach to successful ageing, in the form of the metamodel of selective optimisation with compensation. This model moves away from a focus on prescribed outcomes and standard norms to one in which the primary focus is on the processes older people use to obtain goals in the face of losses.
