Journal title | Ageing and Society, vol 16, part 2, March 1996 |
Pages | pp 205-232 |
Keywords | Health services ; Usage [services] ; Demography ; United States of America. |
Annotation | Drawing on data from the 1988 US Census and from a national random sample of Medicare patients in the same year, this article examines how population ageing has affected health care for older Americans, in particular whether the way in which demographic transition has occurred influences the provision of services. It concludes that supply and use of hospital services differ according to the way in which population ageing has occurred. |
