AnnotationPresents the findings from two linked studies which investigated the early retirement decisions of a group of male employees: the first in terms of factors important in the decision-making process and the second in terms of both the factors seen to be important by, and the quality of life of, a group of men following their early retirement. Both studies found that the decision-making process is complex, and that the most important factor in the quality of life of early retirees was the matching of expectations of further work at the point of decision.
