AnnotationThis annual volume presents statistics on deaths occurring annually in England and Wales. Statistics for deaths in previous years are included to show recent trends in mortality. The publication covers death counts and death rates tabulated by cause of death, and the age and sex of the deceased. Figures in volume no.21 (1993 (revised) and 1994) replace those in volume no.20, which have been revised as a result of recoding of deaths from external injuries and poisoning. Data on deaths by underlying cause, including age-specific rates. Cause of death has been coded to ICD-10 (International Classification of Diseases and Related Health Problems) from 1 January 2001. Series ceased in 2008 (last one was number 32/2005), continued as part of Series DR. (KJ)
