Annotation | According to the community care policy which came into operation in 1993, the National Health Service (NHS) retains responsibility "for the provision of continuous residential health care for those highly dependent people who need it". Examples in this short article illustrate the trend towards early discharge from hospital or transfer to nursing homes for patients still in need of continuing health care. (RH). |
