Annotation | This circular provides guidance on the identification of the ordinary residence of people who require personal social services under the National Assistance Act 1948. The guidance is applicable to local authorities' responsibilities for residential care, nursing home care (from 1 April 1993), care in other types of residential accommodation, such as group homes and hostels, some welfare services, and after-care for people who have been detained under the Mental Health Act 1983. It also includes the procedure for determination of disputes. Attached to the Circular is a letter from the Social Care Group, Department of Health (DoH) to Age Concern, replying to an inquiry about some of the issues in the Circular. (AKM). |
