AnnotationThese Regulations, which came into force on 7th November 1988, are made under the Social Security Acts of 1975 and 1986. They make provision for a payment to be made out of the Social Fund for each period of cold weather (7 days), if the claimant has been awarded Income Support for at least one day in that period; his applicable amount includes a disability or pensioner premium or a member of his family is under 2; and an average temperature of 0 Celsius or less is recorded for that period. They prescribe an amount of £5 in respect of each period subject to a reduction in respect of any capital in excess of £500. (RH).
