Journal title | Research on Aging, vol 15, no 1, March 1993 |
Pages | pp 70-91 |
Keywords | Informal care ; Daughters ; Informal care ; Relations by marriage ; Social pressures ; United States of America. |
Annotation | Using the 1982 US Informal Caregiver's Survey, this research examines the contributions of daughters-in-law relative to daughters in the care of elderly patients. It assesses the levels of care and caregiving tasks in the context of the expectations and obligations of affinal (related by marriage) versus consanguineal kin. Possible causes of lower obligation toward affinal kin are explored. (RH). |
