AnnotationOffers a critique of the study of ageing by sociologists and historians, and claims that life histories and oral histories have been neglected in gerontology. As a corrective, results from a UK life history based study are presented. This highlights four ways in which older adults achieve positive self-perceptions and meaning in old age: work, leisure, grandparenting and intimate relations among adults. (KJ).
