Annotation | "An ageing society" adopts an explicitly anti-ageist stance, which emphasises the importance of viewing older people as individuals. The course covers four themes: diversity; power; continuity and change; and social construction. The course aims to: extend knowledge and understanding of issues affecting ageing and the lives of individual older people; deepen students' awareness of their personal responses to ageing and their own structural position within the life course; and enhance skills and practical abilities of both informal carers and workers with older people. The pack comprises: Introduction and study guide; Blocks 1-5 (course units); 5 audio cassettes; Audio notes; Documents file; Glossary; Guide to services; and Case studies. (RH). |
