AnnotationThe information presented in this report was originally collated in response to a request from the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) for data on the care of frail older people (that is, over 65s suffering from a chronic illness which causes some long-term loss of function) in the UK. The Department of Health (DoH) commissioned Age Concern Institute of Gerontology (ACIOG) to produce this report. It brings together a range of factual and statistical information on the way in which policy on the care of older people has developed, the ways in which care is provided, and the sources of funding for services and financial benefits for older people. Sources of information used include the General Household Survey (GHS) and the Office of Population Censuses and Surveys (OPCS) Surveys of disability. (RH).
