Annotation | This Australian study examined the role of psychological factors in the satisfaction of older people living in long-term care institutions. Two hundred people living in hostels and nursing homes participated in the study. Data were collected on their pre-entry attitudes and involvement with the relocation process, perception of the stressors and uplifts in the environment, health, finance, social support and perception of control. Both objective and subjective measures of well-being and happiness were used as outcome variables. Regressional analyses indicated that the best predictors of outcomes include pre-entry factors and perception of stressors/conflict in the environment. (AKM). |
