Annotation | This book describes the evolution of geriatric services in the deprived area, East End of Glasgow. A department of geriatric medicine was established at Glasgow's Royal Infirmary in 1964 by Isaacs. It is carefully researched, based on extensive case studies and two of the authors, Livingstone and Neville were practising social workers at the time. In 1975, Isaacs left Glasgow when he was appointed to the chair of geriatric medicine at Birmingham University where he remained for 15 years. (KJ). |
