Annotation | A review is given of studies in Britain of rural traffic, that is inter-urban traffic and traffic having rural origin or destination, in the period 1970-1973. Collection of data and developments in transport models at the local, county, regional and national levels, and in application of these models, are discussed. Mention is made of work on inter-urban travel by means other than road and of public transport modelling at the county level in relation to structure plans. The special problems of recreational traffic, especially those arising in attractive rural areas, are discussed. Particular subjects for further research are suggested. (RH). |
