Annotation | The Centre for Health Economics at the University of York was commissioned by the Institute of Health Services Management, the British Medical Association, and the Royal College of Nursing to undertake this study. It provides evidence on changes in public expenditure on the National Health Service (NHS) in 1984-85 and 1985-86, to indicate that additional funding has not been adequate to finance additional costs of demographic change. Even allowing for efficiency savings, it seems likely that real expenditure on the NHS has not kept pace with increasing demands. (RH). |
