Journal title | The Gerontologist, vol 21, no 1, February 1981 |
Pages | pp 85-90 |
Keywords | Institutional accommodation ; Personnel ; Attitudes to the old of general public. |
Annotation | The effect of the presence of personal belongings on perceptions of older people in institutions was tested through colour slides in two groups of medical students. The results, although not statistically significant, showed that the older person surrounded by personal belongings was perceived in a less negative way than the same person in bare surroundings. The possible detrimental effects of bare surroundings in institutions for older people is discussed. (AKM). |
