Annotation | This paper examines an example of multidisciplinary assessment for residential accommodation (Part III) carried out in the day hospital of a district hospital geriatric medical unit. It is a positive example of co-operation between social services and medical, nursing and paramedical staff. Multidisciplinary assessment was found to be of benefit to both medical and social services staff. A number of applicants were found to have previously undiagnosed medical problems, most of which could be treated. The information provided enabled social workers to make better informed decisions about applicants' needs. (RH). |
