Manifesto on the place of the retired and the elderly in modern society | Corporate Author | Age Concern England - ACE |
Publisher | Age Concern England, London, 1975 |
Pages | 8 pp |
Keywords | Rights [elderly] ; Social roles. |
Annotation | Preparation of this manifesto involved specially commissioned research among the retired; the findings of more than 800 study groups; more than 20 reports prepared by leading experts; and a debate at a national conference in 1974. The manifesto itself sets out factors which a civilised community should recognise could improve life for older people in Britain. These factors relate to independence, choice, self-realisation, income, health, housing, employment, mobility, and participation. The attainment of these improvements can be brought about by the nation accepting that these are not just idealistic concepts, but merely a starting point for action. (RH). |
