Annotation | In the years that have elapsed since the first social survey of old people in Britain (by J Seebohm Rowntree in 1947), there has been a steady stream of research studies on older people's needs for housing, health care, cash benefits and social services. However, there have been few on older people's information needs. This paper reviews the findings of the handful of British studies which have been carried out on the information needs of retired people. It considers what is known about "newly retried people", and on the basis of that knowledge, assesses the implications for information providers. (RH). |
