Annotation | The mobility allowance was introduced in January 1976. This report is the result of a collaborative study involving the DHSS Social Research Branch and the Social Policy Research Unit (SPRU) at the University of York. The report considers the characteristics of mobility allowance beneficiaries, and discusses the ways in which they used the allowance. It attempts to gauge the extent and nature of changes in the outdoor mobility of beneficiaries, including an assessment of mobility needs that remain outstanding. The contribution of the allowance to mobility costs is discussed. (RH). |
