Annotation | The severe disabilities of the hospital geriatric population are related to the chronic and recurrent nature of the degenerative diseases of old age. Many patients suffer from several unrelated clinical conditions. The ultimate prospect of an elderly person discharged from hospital depend on both the overall functional disability and on the social background. Careful planning and co-ordination of after-care services are important aspects of the work of a geriatric department. |
