Annotation | This is the first substantial study made of case-work in rural areas, the surveys being carried out in 1950 and 1951, and financed by the Carnegie United Kingdom Trust working on behalf of the National Council of Family Casework Agencies. The report includes evidence from rural casework in Northumberland and County Durham; evidence from social agencies in Oxfordshire on the impact of social services; and evidence from the consumer based on a random sample enquiry in Northumberland and County Durham. The surveys' terms of reference were "to determine the needs of country dwellers in connection with family case-work", and the conclusions consider various aspects of unmet need. (RH). |
