Annotation | The Committee inquired into and reported on all aspects of the transfer on or about 27th December 1973 of patients from Fairfield Hospital to Rossendale Hospital, the subsequent deaths of nine of those patients, and the effects upon each of those patients of that transfer. The reason for advisability of the decision to transfer, and the adequacy of the treatment and care of patients following transfer was also considered. The Committee was appointed after complaints made by relatives of two of the patients to the Bury and Rossendale Hospital Management Committee and local MPs. (RH). |
