| Annotation | This article examines the changing age structure of Britain's population and some of the social and economic implications. The balance between those who are primarily producers of resources and those who are primarily consumers is more unfavourable in the mid 1970s than at any time since the early 1930s. The author predicts that the balance will improve to the turn of the century and beyond. |
