AnnotationThe humanitarian system is ill-equipped to ensure an equitable response for the most vulnerable. While issues specific to children, age, older people women and those with disabilities are widely written about, there are few mechanisms to deal with them. This introduction to the issues faced by older people following natural disasters and conflict outlines how Age International and its partner organisation, HelpAge, are addressing their needs. Examples include delivering age-appropriate emergency relief and healthcare; providing financial and psychological support; and helping communities prepare themselves against future disasters. (RH).
