Annotation | How do you train care home staff when staff turnover is high and everyone is busy at the time? The author and colleagues report on findings from an evaluation of a potential solution whereby staff themselves were recruited to train their colleagues. Trainers were recruited from six London boroughs, all having large numbers of care homes and some having low diagnosis rates. 65 people were trained as trainers to deliver a training package comprising three modules: dementia awareness; identifying people showing signs of dementia; and the importance of research. Learning limitations and cost effectiveness are discussed. (RH). |
