AnnotationThe 43rd Annual Meeting and Educational Leadership Conference of the US Association for Gerontology in Higher Education (AGHE) had as its theme, "The future is here: educating a new generation of professionals in aging worldwide". The eight articles in this special issue of Gerontology and Geriatrics Education present strategies toward meeting the urgent need for a gerontologically trained workforce across the world. The first article explores whether there is a common core of competencies across gerontological higher education across Europe. While three studies compare Sweden and the United States, Finland and the United States, and Japan, Taiwan and Turkey, other articles examine single countries: Canada, Mexico, India and Nicaragua.
