Annotation | The author writes in light of a mission to the United Nations in Geneva to give evidence to the UN committee which has been examining the UK's efforts as a signatory to the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (UNCRPD). She also summarises the work of the Dementia Policy Think Tank, set up in 2016 by eight people living with dementia, which gathered evidence about the rights of people with dementia to present to the UN committee. She reports that the UN committee has since asked questions of UK government representatives about applying the Equality Act to people with dementia, and doing more about awareness-raising to combat negative attitudes towards dementia.
