Annotation | In Scotland, there has been a change of the language used to describe behavioural difficulties, from "challenging behaviour" or "behavioural and psychological symptoms of dementia", to "stress and distress" in dementia. Corresponding with this has been an increase in the evidence base for non-pharmacological interventions. The author describes and reviews one such intervention, the CEASE approach, which is being used in Dumfries and Galloway. This mnemonic acronym stands for: Comfort, Environment, Activity, Social contact, and Engagement. (RH) |
