Annotation | The authors identify salient research gaps in the research on housing for older people, and respond to the lack of knowledge, guided by Menec et al's age-friendly communities framework (Conceptualizing age-friendly communities; in: Canadian Journal on Aging, 30(3), 2011, pp 479-493). These gaps in knowledge include age-friendliness, ageing in place, conceptualisation of home, falls, housing as it relates to disability and health, the person-environment fit, and housing programmes and initiatives. The authors discuss how the age-friendly paradigm can inform these areas of the literature, and they consider problems presented in each. This review is intended to provide a roadmap for future researchers, administrators, clinicians and policy makers. (RH). |
