AnnotationFailure to invest in services for an ageing society has meant that they are increasingly reliant on family carers. The authors examine the problems faced by carers, and ask what it will take to provide better support in the caring role. While a lack of family care implies that families must do more, the reality is that increasing numbers of people with dementia will not have family carers - which should be recognised in ad by policy and practice.
