Annotation | Older people with mental health problems in England do not receive the same level or quality of care as younger people. Despite the existence of policies and guidelines setting out the importance of age equality in mental health care, both direct and indirect discrimination of older people has continued across all health and social care services. This report outlines evidence on the prevalence of mental health problems; the cost of addressing age discrimination; current service structures; and implications for services. It makes recommendations aimed at ensuring older people receive equitable provision of high quality mental health care and support. (RH). |
