AnnotationThe author provides a statistical summary on aspects of older people's lives in Northern Ireland (NI) and the Republic of Ireland (RoI). This report aims to compare and contrast aspects of older people's lives from an island of Ireland analysis, and to highlight some areas which merit further research, analysis and co-ordinated data collection north and south. The report draws on three main sources: 'Ageing in Ireland 2007: a statistical bulletin (Central Statistics Office, RoI); 'Older people in Northern Ireland' (Office of the First Minister and Deputy First Minister, 2008); and 'Ireland north and South: a statistical profile', 2008 edition (CSO and Northern Ireland Statistics and Research Agency). The main themes covered are population, health and well-being and labour market. (RH).
