Annotation | It is often assumed that spiritual care cannot be provided for ageing adults with cognitive impairment. However it is argued that chaplains and other health and human service professionals can 'touch the spirit' of older adults with dementia, even when those with dementia are severely limited in their abilities to respond. In this article a case study is presented that demonstrates how the type of spiritual care offered can be tailored to address the spiritual needs of those who experience increased cognitive impairment over time.
