Annotation | In this article the author argues the need to bring the EU's health and long-term care infrastructure into alignment with the projected increase of ageing and older citizens. By helping local and regional authorities to meet their demographic challenges in innovative and sustainable ways, the EU Covenant is expected to play an important role in reducing geographical inequalities and in contributing to increased healthy life expectancy in Europe.
