Annotation2012 was proclaimed the European Year for Active Ageing and Solidarity between Generations. This publication is based on a paper presented at the fourth meeting of the UNECE Working Group on Ageing in 2011. It presents evidence on active ageing and quality of life. Among recommendations are to: start early in promoting active ageing; also offer opportunities for active ageing later in the life course; improve societal frameworks for active ageing; include frail older people in old age policies; and pay attention to images of ageing.
