Annotation | This evidence review has been commissioned as part of the UK government's Foresight Future of an Ageing Population project, and was conducted by Carol Jagger of the Institute for Ageing and Institute of Health and Society, Newcastle University. It reviews past trends in life expectancy (LE), healthy life expectancy (HLE) and disability-free life expectancy (DFLE) at various ages and in different regions of the UK, as well as regional inequalities in the these trends. It identifies the major factors which will influence future trends, which are broadly chronic conditions, health behaviours, and socio-economic and environmental factors. (RH). |
