Annotation | Providing a springboard for culture change in care homes is key. David Sheard explains why Dementia Care Matters' 50 Point Checklist (originally published in 2008 as 'Inspiring: leadership matters in dementia care') has been revised, since, in the intervening years thousands of the che checklist have been completed in care homes in the UK, Ireland, the United States, Canada and Australia. His article discusses the checklist's development and the new version called 'Inspiring: the butterfly household model of care'. The reason for inclusion of the word "household" is that the language used has been refined to something that feels more personal, and will add to the distinctiveness of the checklist as something that identifies the highest priority elements fist.
