Annotation | An early adopter of the dementia friendly approach, Bradford has benefitted from programme funding from the council and JRF. This has enabled the Alzheimer's Society to provide a consistent resource to support and enable partners to develop skills and resources which support people with dementia and their partners. A particularly distinctive aspect of the Bradford approach is its focus on geographic communities and communities of interest and experience. This evaluation found that the first phase of the DFC in Bradford was largely successful, with visible strengths in local focus, addressing diversity and inclusion, supporting and networking between groups, and business engagement with key players. Support with transport, particularly for single people and those on lower incomes, has made a significant difference to quality of life and inclusion. A second phase has been funded. (NH). |
