AnnotationPublished in anticipation of the work of the Ambitions Partnership, a group of national organisations across the voluntary and statutory sectors that has come together to develop a new five-year vision and a fresh set of ambitions for end of life care over the coming Parliament. This short report elucidates four key themes which emerged from reports (published 2014 or 2015) by the Parliamentary and Health Ombudsman, the House of Commons Health Committee, and the Choice in End of Life Care Programme Board ('Choice Review') on end of life care. The key themes are: the need for leadership to give end of life care greater priority; an increase in well-coordinated community-based care; support for the workforce to enable them to deliver compassionate and competent care; and fairness and equality in the access and quality of end of life care. The National Council for Palliative Care (NCPC) calls for a review into how dying, death and bereavement are dealt with across government departments and public bodies. (NH/RH).
