Annotation | Normal ageing is associated with a number of changes in sleep patterns, and the prevalence of sleep disorders increases with age. Poor sleep quality may result in cognitive impairment and reduced quality of life. This article looks at the causes of abnormal sleep in the older patient, and assessment and treatment strategies, both pharmacological and non-pharmacological. (JL). |
